St. Rita of Cascia was a mother, an Augustinian nun, and deemed “Saint of Impossible Causes” because of her persistence in prayer to save her own sons from killing in retaliation for their father’s death. At our parish over the past 20 years, no fewer than twelve different women have come to the office for a candle and to introduce us to their daughter, Rita. All of these women were told that they would never bear children so they turned to St. Rita for intervention. Some of these miracle Ritas now bring their own children to join with their mothers in consistent prayer and devotion.
